Heat pumps in Leicester

The housing here has its own character, and that character decides the design.

Leicester is largely Victorian and Edwardian terraces - Clarendon Park, Highfields, Belgrave - with interwar semis further out at Evington, Knighton and Braunstone.

The terraces are solid brick with bay windows and back additions, and the back addition is usually where the heat loss concentrates. Sizing from floor area gets this wrong every time.

Why AuraNord

MCS certified

Accredited installers — required for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant and manufacturer warranties.

£7,500–£9,000 grant handled

We apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme on your behalf — £7,500 for mains-gas homes or £9,000 for oil/LPG — and deduct it from your price.

0% VAT on qualifying work

0% VAT applies to qualifying heat pump installations, so it is not added to your price.

Own engineers & warranty

Designed, installed and commissioned in-house, backed by warranty and aftercare.

MCS CertifiedOur air source heat pump installations are carried out by MCS-certified engineers — the standard required for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant (£7,500 for homes on mains gas or £9,000 for homes on oil or LPG) and manufacturer warranties.

Siting and permissions in Leicester

A few things worth settling before the install date rather than on it.

Planning. Leicester City Council covers the city. Conservation areas across the older suburbs are the main reason an installation would need consent rather than permitted development.
Position and weather. A mild, sheltered Midlands climate, which makes for comfortable design margins on a properly surveyed system.
Fuel and grant. The city is on the gas network throughout; the oil and LPG grant rate applies to the county villages rather than the city.
Noise. Every installation gets an MCS 020 sound assessment, which is what the permitted development route depends on — we do it at survey stage, not afterwards.

FAQs

Do you install air source heat pumps in Leicester? +

Yes. AuraNord designs and installs air source heat pumps for homes throughout Leicester and the wider Leicestershire area. Every installation is carried out by our own MCS-certified engineers and starts with a free home survey and a fixed written quote.

How much does an air source heat pump cost in Leicester? +

It depends on your property and the system required, but most homeowners pay a net price after the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant — £7,500 for homes on mains gas or £9,000 for homes on oil or LPG — which we apply for on your behalf. There is also 0% VAT on qualifying installations. Request an estimate online or call 0333 090 7546 for a free survey.

Do you handle the government grant? +

Yes. As an MCS-certified installer we apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant on your behalf and deduct it from your quoted price — £7,500 for mains-gas homes or £9,000 for homes replacing oil or LPG heating.

Do I need planning permission for a heat pump in Leicester? +

Most domestic air source heat pump installations go ahead under permitted development, provided the unit meets the siting and noise conditions. Planning here sits with Leicester City Council, and where a property is listed or in a conservation area we assume consent is needed and establish that before the quote is signed off rather than on the install date.

Is there a charge for a survey in Leicester? +

No. The home survey and the written quote are free and carry no obligation. The room-by-room heat loss calculation, the emitter schedule, the cylinder, the controls and the commissioning are all priced before anything is ordered.
